What Training Do You Need to Work with AI in 2026?

To work with AI in 2026, three paths exist: university programs in Morocco (ENSIAS, EMSI, UIR), recognized online certifications (Google, Microsoft, IBM via Coursera or edX), and short business-oriented programs. The right choice depends on your profile, starting level, and what you actually want to do.

What the Moroccan Market Actually Needs

According to several Moroccan media outlets, Morocco ranks 66th globally among users of Claude, Anthropic’s AI. Maroc Cloud has announced the launch of Gemini Enterprise in Morocco. According to Yabiladi, AH Digital is working to automate processes for Moroccan SMEs. The AUSIMètre 2026 report raises concerns about AI, cloud, and quantum computing in Morocco.

Demand for AI skills in Morocco is real, accelerating, and no longer limited to engineers.

What companies are looking for today isn’t just data scientists. They want profiles capable of integrating AI into concrete business processes: HR, finance, marketing, logistics. People who understand what the tool does, its limits, and how to govern it.

As I explained in my analysis on choosing AI for business, the question isn’t “which AI is best” but “who in the organization knows how to use it.”

Training in Morocco: What Exists

Universities and Engineering Schools

ENSIAS in Rabat trains engineers in artificial intelligence and data science. It’s the public benchmark. Demanding, selective entrance exam.

EMSI (Casablanca, Rabat, Marrakech) offers data science and AI tracks within engineering programs. Accessible, with corporate partnerships.

UIR (International University of Rabat) has developed programs in AI and intelligent systems with international reach.

UM6P (Mohammed VI Polytechnic University) in Ben Guerir is growing fast on applied AI, with serious research partnerships.

Short Programs and Bootcamps

Several private players offer intensive programs ranging from a few weeks to a few months. These formats suit working professionals who want to build skills without returning to a full degree program.

Online Training: Free and Certifying

This is where the value-to-accessibility ratio is best for a Moroccan professional in 2026.

Google

Google offers “Introduction to Generative AI” and “Machine Learning Crash Course” on Google Cloud Skills Boost. Content is freely accessible online.

Microsoft

Microsoft Learn offers complete learning paths on Azure AI, Copilot, and AI fundamentals. The AI-900 and AI-102 certifications provide a solid foundation for profiles looking to work in Microsoft environments.

IBM via Coursera

The “IBM AI Engineering” path on Coursera covers machine learning, deep learning, and model deployment. Certifying, recognized, and available with financial aid in some countries.

DeepLearning.AI

Founded by Andrew Ng, DeepLearning.AI offers reference-level specializations: “Machine Learning Specialization”, “AI for Everyone” (ideal for non-technical profiles), “Generative AI for Everyone.” The last one is designed for managers and executives, not developers.

I completed the MIT Applied AI program in 2025. What I took away: the value isn’t in the algorithms. It’s in the ability to ask the right questions about a business problem and evaluate what an AI system can or cannot solve.

That’s exactly what I cover in my AI Governance Sprint for leadership teams. Learn more about my services.

Which Profile, Which Path?

You’re a student or early in your career

Aim for a degree program: ENSIAS, EMSI, UIR, or UM6P. Complement with Google or Microsoft certifications during your studies. The Moroccan market values the combination of a degree, practical certification, and real project experience.

You’re a working professional

Start with “AI for Everyone” from DeepLearning.AI. Free, two weeks, no technical prerequisites. It gives you the vocabulary and framework to talk AI with your teams and vendors.

Then, depending on your role: Google Cloud for IT profiles, Microsoft Copilot for business profiles, IBM for data profiles.

You’re an executive or HR leader

You don’t need to code. You need to understand what AI changes in your operating model, how to evaluate an AI project, and how to put the right guardrails in place.

As I analyzed in my article on AI benefits for SMEs, the value for an executive isn’t in technical mastery. It’s in the ability to steer.

What Nobody Tells You

The Moroccan market, like European markets, is starting to distinguish between profiles who hold a certification and those who have real project experience.

The most effective skills development combines: short training + internal project + mentor or community of practice.

The companies hiring today, including those I observe in my assignments between Casablanca and Brussels, want people who can deliver results, not recite a course.

FAQ

What is the best free online AI training?

“AI for Everyone” by DeepLearning.AI on Coursera is the most accessible entry point for non-technical profiles. For IT profiles, Google’s Machine Learning Crash Course is a solid, free reference.

Do you need to know how to code to work with AI?

No. AI-related roles go far beyond development. AI project manager, automation consultant, AI governance lead, internal trainer: these roles exist and don’t require mastering Python or TensorFlow.

Which AI certifications are recognized in Morocco?

Google Cloud (Professional Machine Learning Engineer), Microsoft (AI-900, AI-102), and IBM (AI Engineering via Coursera) are among the most visible in Morocco’s tech ecosystem. They send a credible signal to recruiters, provided they are backed by concrete project experience.

How long does it take to train in AI?

For basic AI literacy: two to four weeks with a serious online program. For deployable operational skills: three to six months of intensive training, or one year alongside a professional activity.
