Which AI Jobs Are Hiring in 2026?

In 2026, the most sought-after AI profiles are: machine learning engineer, data scientist, MLOps engineer, AI architect, AI governance consultant, and AI change management lead. These profiles are actively recruited in finance, telecoms, retail, and the public sector, both in Morocco and across French-speaking Europe.

Why the Market Is Hiring Now

The signal is clear. BMCI just brought together HR directors and executives to discuss AI challenges. Maroc Cloud is launching Gemini Enterprise to govern AI use in companies. According to Le Matin, Morocco’s robotics market is moving out of the experimentation phase and into real-world use cases.

This is no longer speculation. Companies that spent two years running AI pilots are now moving to industrialization. And to industrialize, you need people. Specific profiles. Not generalists who completed a MOOC.

As I explained in my analysis on integrating AI into recruitment, demand for AI skills far exceeds available supply in the French-speaking market.

The Jobs That Are Hiring, Profile by Profile

Machine Learning Engineer

This is the most sought-after profile. They design, train, and deploy models. They work in Python, master TensorFlow or PyTorch, and know how to translate a business problem into a predictive model.

In Morocco, banks, telecom operators, and major retail chains are actively recruiting these profiles. In Belgium and France, demand also comes from consulting firms and software publishers.

Data Scientist

The data scientist analyzes data to produce decision-making insights. They work upstream of the AI engineer: identifying use cases, cleaning data, building exploratory models.

It’s a hybrid profile. You need math, statistics, and the ability to speak to executives who don’t want to hear about p-values.

MLOps Engineer

Less known, but highly sought after. They bridge the gap between the data scientist who builds a model and the production environment that needs to run it at scale. Without them, models stay in Jupyter notebooks and generate no measurable value.

This is the profile most lacking in the Moroccan market today.

AI Architect

They design the technical infrastructure that allows AI to function within an enterprise. Cloud, data security, integration with existing systems. With the deployment of solutions like Gemini Enterprise in Morocco, this profile is becoming strategic.

AI Governance Consultant

This is the profile few companies anticipate, and that all of them end up urgently searching for. They structure AI usage policies, define guardrails, manage regulatory compliance, and answer board-level questions.

A Telquel tribune asks the question directly: are Moroccan companies truly ready when it comes to e-invoicing, AI, and data? That question itself signals that organizations are looking to close a skills gap on these topics. As I analyzed in my overview of major AI companies in 2026, AI governance has become a C-suite issue, not an IT topic.

AI Change Management Lead

When a company deploys an AI tool, 80% of the problems aren’t technical. They’re human. This profile supports teams, trains managers, and ensures the tool is actually used.

Le Desk frames it clearly in its headline: in Morocco, AI isn’t yet destroying young people’s jobs, it’s transforming their tasks. Someone has to steer that transformation. That’s this profile.

The Sectors Hiring the Most

Finance and Banking

Fraud detection, credit risk assessment, conversational agents for customer relations. Moroccan banks are on the front line. BMCI, but also subsidiaries of major French groups present in Morocco.

Telecoms

Network optimization, offer personalization, churn prediction. Operators have massive data volumes and the means to recruit.

SMEs and Industry

AH Digital is industrializing AI automation for Moroccan SMEs. The robotics market is moving out of experimentation and into concrete use cases. These companies are looking for profiles capable of deploying operational solutions, not conducting fundamental research.

Public and Parapublic Sector

Regulatory pressure around public data management is creating new demand for AI profiles in government and public institutions.

What Recruiters Actually Look At

Degrees matter less than concrete achievements. A candidate who has deployed a model in production, even on a modest project, is worth more than a master’s degree without field experience.

Transversal skills make the difference: ability to simplify, to work with business teams, to document. Ungoverned AI is a risk companies are starting to measure. Profiles who understand both the technical side and AI governance are rare and very well positioned.

For profiles looking to train, I’ve listed the certified AI programs worth knowing in 2026. Some are accessible from Morocco.

FAQ

Which AI jobs are accessible without an engineering degree?

AI governance consultant, AI change management lead, and data analyst roles are accessible with certified training and solid business experience. An engineering degree remains an advantage for technical positions, not an absolute requirement.

Is the Moroccan market really hiring in AI or is it still marginal?

It’s real and accelerating. Recent signals, from BMCI to industrial SMEs to Maroc Cloud, show that operational deployment is underway. Demand for profiles exceeds locally available supply.

Do you need to know how to code to work in AI?

Not for every role. Technical profiles like machine learning engineers or MLOps engineers require coding. AI governance, change management, and AI consulting profiles don’t. What matters is understanding what AI can and cannot do.

Which AI profiles are hardest to find in Morocco?

From what I observe in the missions I conduct, MLOps engineers and AI architects are the rarest profiles on the local market. The demand exists; qualified candidates are few. That is where the gap between supply and demand is most pronounced.
