Which Companies Use Artificial Intelligence? Examples and Impact

Many companies integrate artificial intelligence into their operations: Amazon for logistics, Google for search and advertising, IBM for enterprise data analysis. In Morocco, the banking sector, telecoms operators, and local startups are adopting AI for customer service, fraud detection, and process automation.

Global Giants: What They Actually Do

When we talk about companies using artificial intelligence, the same names come up first. But behind the announcements, there are specific use cases.

Amazon

Amazon uses AI at every stage of its logistics chain. Demand forecasting, warehouse optimization, product recommendations. Alexa is the visible example. The invisible part is the recommendation engine that drives a significant share of platform sales.

Google

Google has integrated AI into its search engine for years. Today, the results you see are filtered, ranked, and sometimes generated by machine learning models. Google Translate, Google Photos, Google Ads: every product is layered with AI.

IBM

IBM targets enterprises, not consumers. Their Watson platform is deployed in hospitals for diagnostic support, in banks for risk analysis, in call centers to automate first-level responses. IBM has made AI governance a central commercial argument, particularly with its methodological framework for responsible AI.

Microsoft

Since its investment in OpenAI, Microsoft has integrated generative AI capabilities across its entire Office suite. Copilot drafts emails, summarizes meetings, generates presentations. For a CHRO or CEO using Teams and Outlook, AI is already there, whether they decided it or not.

Moroccan Companies: Where Do They Actually Stand?

Morocco is not behind on awareness. It sometimes lags on execution. But serious players are moving.

Banking Sector

Moroccan banks are exploring conversational agents for customer service and credit risk assessment models that incorporate non-traditional data. The stated goal: better serve underbanked segments while managing risk. Based on market signals, adoption is progressing, but large-scale deployments remain in a consolidation phase at most institutions.

Banque Centrale Populaire is among the institutions working on these assessment models. The movement is real. The scope varies by institution.

Telecoms

Moroccan telecoms operators generate daily data volumes that make them a natural environment for machine learning. Predictive network analysis, anomaly detection, offer personalization: these are the most documented use cases in the sector internationally, and local operators are following the same trend. Specific deployments remain largely undocumented publicly.

Startups and the New Wave

Harmattan AI wants to make Morocco a global power in «TechDefense», according to L’observateur. This is a strong signal: AI is no longer reserved for large established companies. Leaner, more agile structures are building vertical use cases with international ambition.

In recruitment, as I analyzed in my article on which jobs will survive AI, Moroccan companies are beginning to use automated candidate assessment tools. In AI-assisted recruitment processes, mastering these tools is becoming an evaluation criterion in its own right, alongside core professional skills.

The Most Advanced Sectors

Not all sectors are at the same level. Here is where adoption is most concrete.

Finance and Insurance

This is the most advanced sector in Morocco, and market signals suggest the same holds in most comparable economies. Data is structured, risk stakes are high, and return on investment is measurable. Fraud detection, risk assessment, automated regulatory compliance: AI has established itself because it solves real problems with verifiable gains.

Retail and E-commerce

Recommendation personalization, inventory management, demand forecasting. Distribution players who have not yet integrated these tools face a growing competitiveness gap against those who have.

Human Resources

CV screening, interview simulation, performance data analysis. I observe among my HR director clients a rapid adoption of AI tools for high-volume tasks. What takes time is defining what humans must keep. If you want to structure this thinking, my guide on AI interview simulation provides a concrete starting point.

Healthcare and Industry

Slower to start, but pilot projects are multiplying. Medical image analysis, predictive maintenance in industry, energy optimization. These are use cases where AI does not replace the expert: it gives them better information, faster.

What This Changes for an Executive

AI works in a growing number of contexts. What remains open is this: in my sector, on my processes, with my teams, what is the first use case that generates measurable value without creating a major operational risk?

This is a sequencing question, not a technology question. And this is where many projects fail: not because the tool is poor, but because the problem to solve was not well enough defined at the outset.

As I explain in my analysis on the types of AI, understanding what AI can and cannot do is the prerequisite for any serious investment decision.

FAQ

Which Moroccan companies use AI?

Morocco’s banking sector is the most active, with projects around conversational agents, credit risk analysis, and fraud detection. Telecoms operators follow the same dynamic. Startups like Harmattan AI are positioning Morocco on high-value segments such as technology defense. Adoption is progressing, with a concentration on customer service, predictive analytics, and process automation.

Which sectors use AI the most in Morocco?

Finance and insurance are the most advanced. Distribution, telecoms, and human resources follow. Healthcare and industry are progressing but with longer adoption cycles.

Is AI reserved for large companies?

No. Cloud-accessible tools have democratized access. An SME can today deploy a conversational agent or data analysis tool without heavy infrastructure. The real barrier is not financial: it is the ability to define the right use case and manage internal change.

How do I know if my company is ready to integrate AI?

Three questions to ask: do I have structured data on the process I want to improve? Do I have someone who can lead the project from the business side? Is leadership ready to accept a learning phase before results? If all three answers are yes, you can start.
