Free Online AI Training with Certificate: 6 Options for 2026

Looking for free online AI training with a certificate, accessible from Morocco, Belgium, or France? Here are the six best options available in 2026: Google, Coursera, edX, Microsoft, IBM, and DeepLearning.AI. One important clarification upfront: not all of them offer a free certificate in the same way. Some give free access to content without a certificate. Others deliver a certificate at no cost. Others separate the two entirely. Duration ranges from 45 minutes to 6 weeks.

This is not a ranking. It is an operational selection. Each option has its strengths and limitations. Choose based on your level, your language, and what you want to do with it professionally.

1. Google Cloud Skills Boost: The Certificate Most Recognized by Recruiters

Google offers the “Introduction to Generative AI” course on Google Cloud Skills Boost. Free, in English, subtitled. Duration: approximately 45 minutes. Certificate downloadable immediately, at no cost.

Why start here? Because the Google name on a certificate speaks to an HR recruiter or CHRO who doesn’t yet know the other platforms. It’s a quick credibility signal, even if the content remains introductory.

If you’re a CHRO and want to understand what your teams are doing with AI, this program gives you the basic vocabulary in under an hour. As I explained in my analysis of AI in HR, AI literacy starts with leaders, not technical teams.

2. Coursera: Depth, with a Free Audit Option

Coursera hosts training from Stanford, DeepLearning.AI, and other top-tier universities. Most require payment for the certificate. The “audit” option allows free access to content, but without a certificate. This distinction matters before you sign up.

Notable exception: some courses are entirely free with a certificate through institutional partnerships. Andrew Ng’s “AI For Everyone” is one of the most cited programs among non-technical executives. Duration: approximately 6 hours. Content available in English, with French subtitles. Check at registration whether the certificate is included at no cost for your profile.

This program doesn’t teach you to code. It teaches you to ask the right questions of your technical teams. For a CEO or board member, that’s exactly what you need.

3. Microsoft Learn: The Most Complete Free AI Training in French

Microsoft Learn is the least known platform among executives, yet one of the most solid. It offers entirely free programs with completion certificates, and a significant portion of the content is available in French.

The preparatory learning path for the AI-900 certification (Azure AI Fundamentals) is free on the platform. The official certification exam is paid, but the preparatory training itself is not. Verify the exact course title on Microsoft Learn at the time of registration, as Microsoft regularly updates its naming conventions.

For an executive in Morocco looking for free online AI training in French with a certificate recognized in the Microsoft ecosystem, this is the most directly useful option. Companies using Azure, Teams, or Copilot value this certification internally.

4. IBM SkillsBuild: Designed for Learners Without Access to Paid Training

IBM SkillsBuild is a platform explicitly designed for learners without access to paid training. French content available. Free certificates upon completion of programs.

Programs cover AI, data, and cybersecurity. What I observe among my clients in the region: HR teams that have completed IBM SkillsBuild programs have a more structured understanding of AI use cases than those who simply watched YouTube videos. The difference is pedagogical progression.

The recognition of an IBM certificate depends on the sector and the company. In organizations using IBM infrastructure, it carries real weight. Elsewhere, evaluate it against your specific context.

5. edX: The University in Your Browser

edX offers courses from MIT, Harvard, and other academic institutions. Like Coursera, the model is mixed: free audit content, paid certificate in most cases. Some courses funded by public institutions remain entirely free with a certificate, but that is the exception, not the rule.

Microsoft offers a course titled “Data Science and Machine Learning Essentials” on edX. Verify the exact access and certification conditions at the time of registration, as terms evolve. Indicative duration: 6 weeks at 2 to 4 hours per week.

For an executive who wants to understand what their data teams are actually doing, this depth is useful. Not to code. To no longer depend on a PowerPoint presentation to understand an AI project. See also my guide on AI training in Morocco for complementary local options.

6. DeepLearning.AI Short Courses: The Fastest Path to Real Value

DeepLearning.AI, founded by Andrew Ng, offers a series of freely accessible short courses. Duration: 1 to 2 hours per course. For most of them, there is no formal certificate upon completion. This matters: if your primary goal is a certificate, this platform is not the right answer.

Why include it regardless? Because the certificate question is sometimes the wrong question. What you learn in these courses about AI agents, LLMs, or prompt design has immediate operational value. The certificate comes later, once you’ve decided to formalize your learning path on another platform.

Morocco is experiencing a real acceleration in AI right now: according to Hespress Français, Casablanca hosted its first Claude Community build day, and according to LesEco.ma and Maroc.ma, The Morocco Accelerator selected 20 companies for its third cohort. Executives who wait for the right certificate before learning are falling behind those who learn by doing.

If you’re a CEO or CHRO and want to structure your organization’s approach to AI literacy, request a free diagnostic.

FAQ

Are free online AI training certificates recognized by employers?

It depends on the issuer. A Google, Microsoft, or IBM certificate is recognized by recruiters and CHROs in large companies. A certificate from a lesser-known platform carries less weight. What matters more: what you can actually do with what you’ve learned.

Can these programs be accessed from Morocco without restrictions?

The platforms listed are generally accessible from Morocco. That said, access conditions can vary by course and change over time. Check directly on each platform before registering, particularly for free audit options.

Which training should I choose if I’m a non-technical executive?

Andrew Ng’s “AI For Everyone” on Coursera is the most cited starting point among non-technical CEOs and CHROs. It requires no programming skills and can be completed in a day. To go further on the managerial implications, read my guide on using AI in management.
